Sebastian Abresch, Germany: „It (almost) doesn’t matter if you’re here or not“ – Services for schools in times of social distancing
It seems that the times of certainty and predictability are over: every two weeks, there are new regulations that define how we, as humans, meet and interact. When it comes to schools using the resources of a public library, this uncertainty requires a flexible approach. As we try to prepare for whatever the pandemic may throw at us, talk gives an overview on Cologne’ approach.

Marina Caraman, Moldova: The Yammy Chisinau
“Chisinau is a City with a rich cultural heritage. Its history, geography, literature, music, architecture, theater, paintings, and cinematography are subjects that are widely researched. Memory of Chisinau Section of the “B. P. Hasdeu” Municipal Library made several fundamental pieces of research that refer to the aspects mentioned above. However, we had an original, city-inspired idea - the toponym Chisinau used for food product names. What did we discover?” Join the session and find out!

Nicole James, Germany: Learning Circles: E-learning for Everyone
In partnership with Peer 2 Peer University (P2PU), the Cologne Public Library was the first public library in Germany to offer Learning Circles in 2017. The Library and the patrons who have participated in learning circles have benefited from this new learning format, which combines online learning with a collaborative, collegial learning experience. Learning circles help benefit and foster an engaged citizenry by promoting continuing education and lifelong learning. As a member of the Erasmus+ EU project Learning Circles in Libraries (LCIL), the Cologne Public Library is working with P2PU, partner libraries, and NGOs to adapt this model to European countries and provide training for European librarians. The ignite talk addresses the Library’s experiences with the learning circles and offers practical tips and advice for getting started with a learning circle.

Ovidiu Ana, Romania: Choosing the right partners for public libraries
The activities or the projects that an organization carries out should lead to the fulfillment of the objectives that it has set. The partnerships that can appear must be part of the development strategy of the organizations. And on the other hand, those who request a partnership should ask themselves - how does my project contribute to the development of the potential partner?
